The Colonisation essentially started for the Spanish in 1492 when an Italian Explorer came across the Americas, specifically around the region of Watling Island in the Bahamas/San Salvador Island.

1501
Another major point in time was 1501 when the Encomienda System was brought into play, it is essentially a feudal system, in which the Spanish were granted permission to be care takers and use them as workers, in return they would keep them safe and teach them christianity. This system was supposed to be a legitimate positive for the indigenous people, however it was abused, instead of being workers they were becoming slaves, they lived under hard conditions.

In 1507 America was named by Geographer Martin Waldsemüler, he named it after an Italian merchant, explored and cartographer, Amerigo Vecpucci
